Travis Dowdy opened the doors of his first salon in April of 1999. With over 17 years as a professional stylist, “I’ve learned through my own experience that the best stylist are produced by growth, stability, and possess a strong sense of purpose with their careers,” says Travis.
Travis started his career in education in 1995 with The Golden Lady Hair Care Company Maker of, Oh So Silky. Then other opportunities quickly developed. Redken 5th Ave. of New York invited Travis to become one of their educators. There he learned educational importance and the values that educators should posses. Subsequently McBride Research Laboratories, maker of Design Essentials, noticed his dedication. They recruited him in 2002. There he received The Rookie of the Year Award as well as helped to create new products that are still being used across the country to date.
Never one to be content with the status quo, Travis’ passion for improvement aids his business in moving forward. In addition Travis provides services for a vast amount of celebrities, music videos, cd covers, and award shows. In 2006 Travis used his talent and networking to become the founder of, Healthy Hair Healthy Spirit, a non-for-profit organization that raises money for the many needs of women and children. From cancer to sickle cell, this foundation supports the nation’s efforts to reach out to others. “We have a definite responsibility to give back. As professional stylist women give us the stage we perform on, and support our business on such a grand style,” says Travis.
This much anticipated self entitled product line launched in January of 2007. Travis Dowdy Hair Care products consist of an all-inclusive collection of refined finishing products. The year 2010 will introduce shampoos, conditioners, and reparative products that will address the specific needs of relaxed and color treated hair. Yet, the most unique facet of Travis’ ventures is his research and development facility with a private salon located within. “The salon experience has to change,” says Travis. As a apart of this private setting, the proper time will be given to explain the underlying factors of how product development is the key to beautiful healthy hair. This is a unique opportunity for his clients to have a new salon experience. Travis Dowdy is well prepared for this adaptation and realizes the only limitations in life are the ones set by ourselves.
